DGS Druckguss Systeme AG from St. Gallen and Liberec is a supplier of die cast parts, primarily for the automobile industry. It supplies assemblies in large series as well as small quantities of die cast parts in aluminium, magnesium and zinc. Its customers include DaimlerChrysler, the VW Group, Knorr-Bremse and scale manufacturer Mettler Toledo. The company with annual turnover of over 90 million Swiss francs employs 280 staff in Switzerland and 220 in the Czech Republic.
Solution description
DGS introduced Microsoft Dynamics AX and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition with the KCS.net industry template for the plastic injection and metal die casting industry. Tool management takes place in one program instead of in two separate programs as before. By consolidating processes, Microsoft Dynamics AX simplifies many of the entries previously necessary in the complicated movement of goods with customers and cooperation partners. The HR module was also implemented, which is being optimised on an ongoing basis. Surcharges reflecting higher material costs typical for the industry are also incorporated into price calculations for offers. Correctly calculating heavily fluctuating raw material costs is an important factor. Contracts with customers are usually designed such that part of the delivery price is determined by the price listings by the Wirtschaftsvereinigung Metalle (Metals Trade Association) in Düsseldorf. Microsoft Dynamics AX not only calculates the production costs, but also the road tolls incurred in Switzerland, Austria and Germany using an additional module from KCS.net. The Expowin program by FineSolutions AG in Zurich is also controlled via a data interface. This makes it possible to use the simplified Swiss customs procedure, provide the customs authorities with data and submit the correct forms.
